Join the Chartered IIA North East Committee for the second annual Evolution of Internal Audit, a free half-day event bringing together audit professionals from across the region to explore the rise of artificial intelligence in audit.
This is a frank, energising conversation about what’s actually happening — the lessons learnt and genuine progress being made. Across two sessions we will discuss practical insights on how to embed AI into the audit lifecycle and a discussion on understanding AI risk and how to audit AI.

Steph Brewer is the UK Lead for AI & Innovation in Internal Audit. With over 14 years experience in Internal Audit services, Steph works with clients across all sectors, driving the development and adoption of AI-enabled solutions, new delivery approaches and technology capabilities that improve quality, efficiency and value across audit and assurance services. Passionate about the future of Internal Audit, Steph brings a practical perspective on how organisations can move beyond experimentation and embed AI and innovation in a way that delivers sustainable impact for both audit teams and the wider business.
Rob Pope is the Head of EQA for Financial Services at KPMG. Over the past 15 years, he has advised some of the financial sector's largest and most complex organisations, partnering with Internal Audit Leaders, Audit Committees and executive teams to strengthen Internal Audit effectiveness and help functions demonstrate greater impact. Rob is a recognised specialist in the IIA Global Internal Audit Standards, audit quality and assurance transformation, having led more than 20 EQAs across banks, insurers, asset managers and fintechs. He is also at the forefront of KPMG's work on AI and innovation in Internal Audit, helping organisations rethink how assurance is delivered in an increasingly digital world.
Lewis Keating is an AI risk expert with a broad technology risk background and deep experience in AI risk management and governance. He is an experienced technology risk director who has experience advising organisations on how they can manage the full range of Technology risks and spent over a decade in technology assurance. He regularly engages with and advises Boards, C-Suite executives and Management committee’s on AI Risk Management and Governance. He is regularly engaged to speak at industry conferences and represents Deloitte in various public and private sector forums on AI Risk.
