Six reasons to attend the Audit & Risk Awards event

The shortlist has been published and the date is fixed. If you want to be the first to know who won the Audit & Risk Awards this year – and meet the winners, along with others on the shortlist – then book a table and come along to the event at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on 19 June.

The evening will include a dinner and will be hosted by broadcaster and comedian Baroness Ayesha Hazarika MBE. However, even more importantly, it will be an opportunity to celebrate success, learn about best practice and innovation and network with others interested in progressing the internal audit profession.

What are the key benefits from attending?

1. Learn from success

The Audit & Risk Awards celebrate the best work done by outstanding individuals and teams. These people took on problems that are shared by many internal audit teams across the UK and Ireland and found ways to overcome them and excel. In the process, they developed the internal auditors of tomorrow, raised the profile and reputation of the profession and found new ways to support management and become more relevant to the wider business. These lessons should be shared so more internal audit teams can benefit.

2. Celebrate and be inspired

We all need reasons for optimism as we are faced by uncertainty in the economy and global disruption. Success stories not only offer us ideas that can help us in our jobs, but also the inspiration and energy to put them into practice and aspire to improving performance.

3. Extend your network

Internal auditors are part of a community, but many people rarely meet those from beyond their own teams. The Audit & Risk Awards event is an opportunity to talk to peers across all sectors and regions of the country, working in teams of varying sizes. Interaction with the internal audit community is one of the greatest benefits of being part of the Chartered IIA. This is a chance to benefit from it.

4. Reward and motivate your team

Internal audit leaders need to mix with their peers and gain inspiration and information, but so do internal audit managers and new recruits. Attending an event with the team gives them a pat on the back and recognises their hard work, but it also should inspire and promote ambition. With awards for individuals at all levels as well as for team performance, the Audit & Risk Awards event should boost morale and generate excitement among internal auditors of all kinds.

5. Gain ideas and tips on how to enter future Audit & Risk Awards

All internal audit functions are facing unprecedented challenges, whether these are from heightened cyber risks, supply chain disruption or budget cuts. Everyone is having to find new ways to work smarter and more efficiently. This means that many more teams have great stories to tell. If you want your team to be up on the podium next year, attending this year’s awards event is a great place to start.

6. Support the wider internal audit profession and engage with its development

The Chartered IIA brings together the internal audit community and represents it on the global and national stages, but its members are the core of its success and what it does. To paraphrase John Donne, no internal audit team is an island, entire of itself. Attending the awards event gives you and your team the opportunity to engage with the leading edge of debates about how the profession progresses and evolves to meet new demands – and what the Chartered IIA can do to support this progression. This is an excellent opportunity to talk to the president and council members and discuss what you would like to see, and whether you could be involved.

Attendees at the Audit & Risk Awards event can choose from booking a table or coming along on an individual ticket. Full details are available in the Events section of the Chartered IIA website. If you have further questions, you can email us.
