As a long bank holiday approaches time away from work is likely to be everyone’s focus this month, but there are still some exciting additions to the Content Hub – as well as elsewhere!
Technical Content
After a lot of consultation and work two pieces of guidance are now available on our website:
These both come with 4 downloadable tools which members can use as a basis for communications with audit committee and senior management, the EQA section in the internal audit manual, and help them make decisions on what EQA approach is right for their organisation.
More guidance is currently in draft covering topics such as internal audit performance measures, auditing culture and fraud. So keep revisiting the Content Hub.
Global IIA
The next in the series of Topical Requirements covering third party risk has been released in draft for consultation with the closing date of 20 April – so please participate. If you would like to contribute to the Chartered IIA’s response, then please send your feedback via email to ann.brook@charterediia.org by 15 April at the latest.
Global has also released a tool to support ethical conformance for the Global Internal Audit Standards, for members, and continues to release recommended guidance on auditing risks, such as capital adequacy, cybersecurity and identity and access management.
European Confederation of Institutes of Internal Audit (ECIIA)
Some members may not be aware of the work of the ECIIA, particularly if you do not operate in Europe. The ECIIA produces guidance, conducts research and delivers webinars to support the internal audit profession. If you have not already done so then a visit to explore their resources may be beneficial Homepage | ECIIA. However, here is a list of some recent guidance that has been issued that may be of particular interest:
Research
Part Four of our Health of Internal Audit Research has been published which provides benchmarking statistics around internal audit strategy, internal audit delivery, internal audit planning, internal audit staffing and annual assurance opinions. The final part is due to be published in the coming weeks. Once the statistical reports are published these will be pulled together along with analysis of the text responses into one full report, rounding up the completion of this research.
More research is being planned currently. Risk in Focus 2026 survey is being launched late May – so watch out of this and make sure that you participate – the higher the participation the more reliable the information produced.
Elsewhere
Outside of the above other organisations issue guidance and consultations which may be helpful to internal auditors. Here is just a selection on a range of topics.
We would encourage members to subscribe to organisations, such as the information Commissioner, to receive their regular newsletters as these can provide valuable up to date information that can be fed into risk assessments.
If you have any ideas for guidance for the Content Hub, or you would like to join our group of volunteer writers and editors then please email us: technical@charterediia.org.
