Is summer here?
As one long bank holiday ends and another approaches, the improving weather hints at a promising summer. However, true to our internal audit mindset, we know better than to draw conclusions without multiple pieces of corroborating evidence!
Research
The 10th anniversary Risk in Focus 2026 Survey is now live for CAEs to complete. We are halfway through and almost at the halfway point of our target of getting over 1,000 responses. So, if you have not already done so, please complete the survey! It is open until the end of May.
We have also partnered with E&Y to provide a Paper for internal audit professionals on the UK Corporate Governance Code – Provision 29. This introduces what Provision 29 is, provides an explanation of what internal audit’s role could be, and includes some key questions that internal auditors can ask as part of their work.
Technical Content
It’s been a quiet month for technical content, new guidance is in the pipeline, including a piece on how to use the Topical Requirements as a practical tool - integrating them into existing methodologies rather than treating them as an add-on.
In the meantime, we encourage you to review our guidance on EQAs for multi-client providers and small internal audit functions. While these topics may not be immediately relevant, reviewing them now can ensure you develop methodologies that will support future needs.
Global IIA
Three topical requirements are currently planned to be published for consultation by global over the course of this year:
- Culture - July to mid August
- Business Resiliency - August to September
- Anti- bribery/corruption - November/December
There is a valuable opportunity for you to help shape the final versions, so we encourage you to participate by emailing any and all feedback to ann.brook@charterediia.org which we will include in our collective response to the Global Standards and Guidance team.
Global’s working group developing the new Competency Framework and Guidance has now concluded and is currently being translated, ready for the launch on 30 June. If you are attending the conference in Toronto there is a session on this on the first day and there is also a webinar on 31 July which you can sign up for to learn more (50% discount for members).
