The first step towards being a professionally qualified internal auditor
· Junior auditor
· Audit technician
· Non-career internal auditors (itinerant or seconded)
To be eligible, you must have:
• A valid government issued ID i.e. valid passport or driving licence.
• Active Chartered IIA membership
The course will cover the core areas which internal auditors should be familiar with including risk management, planning and the audit engagement moving through to communication of findings.
The course content is broken into 5 sections:
SECTION 1: Professional Practice
1.1: The International Professional Practices Framework
1.2: Assurance and advisory services
1.3: Independence and objectivity
1.4: Knowledge and competencies
1.5: Environmental policies
o There are approximately 70 hours of study
o You have two years from the date of registration to complete the Foundations of Internal Auditing exam
• You will receive access to all the materials you need to successfully compete the course.
• The course is delivered as cohorts, with each cohort provides access to a tutor for the period of study.
• You will enroll on an 8-week blended learning course, which will be a mix of 5 tutor delivered classes, supported by self-study, and activities with your fellow students.
• The course is delivered via the Chartered IIA’s virtual learning environment and is fully online
To qualify for the IACert designation you must pass one computer-based, multiple-choice exam:
• 100 multiple-choice questions with 4 options
• Each paper will have questions from each section of the syllabus
• 2 hours
To pass the exam, you need to achieve a score of at least 75% (or 75 of 100 marks).
